![]() A recent message from a client/friend: “I would just like to say a massive thank-you to you all! You have helped not only me but friends and the other visitors you help out. You have helped me out greatly over the last year or so, not just with food or vouchers but with the simple things that probably matter the most, a cup of coffee, a juice, a biscuit etc. but most of all a chat and a smile. I’ve struggled a lot this year and doubt I would of made it to Christmas without your kindness and generosity”. |
Dunbar’s Basics Bank
The Basics Bank is run by Dunbar Parish Church in partnership with Edinburgh City Mission. Other Basics Banks exist in various locations in Edinburgh and one in Musselburgh. The Dunbar Basics Bank covers Dunbar and the surrounding villages of Belhaven, East Linton, Innerwick, Oldhamstocks, Stenton, Spott, Tyninghame and West Barns. This is a referral only service which provides clients with food, toiletries and household cleaning products, aiming to supply sufficient food to support the client, and any dependents, for four days of their week. We accept referrals from professionals who are working with individuals, couples or families considered to be in crisis. Our aim is to help clients through this crisis period and we will suggest that they seek help from appropriate support agencies. Clients will be encouraged to remain in contact with the Basics Bank volunteers even after their crisis is resolved. If you are a professional working with people in crisis and would like to know more, please contact dunbarbasicsbank@gmail.com. Clients of all backgrounds and beliefs are most welcome. Visiting the Basics Bank
If you are referred to the Basics Bank you will be asked to come to the Dunbar Parish Church Hall, Abbeylands, High Street, Dunbar on Wednesdays between 12pm and 2pm. There you will be welcomed into a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with drinks and snacks available. You may come on your own, with the person who has referred you, or with a friend - this can be useful as they can help to carry your shopping! You will be asked to complete a shopping list to indicate what you need and volunteers will then pack your bags. While this is being done, and if you wish to, you can chat with volunteers and enjoy a hot drink. Supporting the Basics Bank
